Payment flow

Customers who choose installment payments go through a redirect payment flow. Omise redirects them from your website to an external webpage, where they authorize and confirm the payment amount. Upon completion, Omise redirects the customer back to your website.

The following screenshots demonstrate this payment flow. At checkout, the customer selects the installment payment method.

Checkout page where the customer selects the installment payment method

After the customer chooses the credit card they want to pay with, Omise redirects them to the external webpage. The authorization page already shows the payment amount and any reference numbers.

The customer reviews the information and confirms the payment. After confirmation, Omise redirects the customer to your website through the return URI you specify.

Setting who pays installment interest

Either you (the merchant) or the customer pays the interest for installment payments. We use the term zero-interest installments to describe the case where you pay the interest instead of the customer.

Default setting for who pays installment interest

Use the Dashboard to set the default party that pays installment interest. You can override the default setting per charge.

Dashboard setting for zero-interest installments

Per-charge setting for who pays installment interest

Override the default setting by passing the boolean parameter zero_interest_installments at both source creation and charge creation.

  • When you set the parameter to true, you (the merchant) pay the interest.
  • When you set the parameter to false, the customer pays the interest.
  • When you omit the parameter, the default account value applies.

The values you pass at source creation and charge creation must match.

If you charge a source directly, pass the zero_interest_installments parameter at charge creation.

Implementation

To create a charge using Installment Payments, complete the following steps.

  1. Create a payment source (type: installment_bay, installment_bbl, installment_first_choice, installment_kbank, installment_ktc, installment_scb, installment_uob, installment_ttb, or installment_mbb) using Omise.js or one of the mobile SDKs (iOS and Android).
  2. Create a charge using the identifier of the source you created in Step 1.
  3. After you receive the charge completion webhook, check the charge status before you fulfill the order.
